Percolator: Solana high speed on-chain perps DEX challenges peers 0% AI
Anatoly Yakovenko, the founder of Solana Labs, announced a natively built decentralised perpetuals exchange DEX dedicated to Solana called Percolator. Percolator is composed of two on-chain programs, Router and Slab, and they have been implemented to be parallelized and fault isolated. The move is a bid to compete with the growing threat of perpetuals trading, particularly by rivals like Hyperliquid (which has taken in a huge amount of Solana fee revenue and users). The founder of Solana Labs has revealed plans to launch a decentralised perpetuals DEX on the network known as Percolator.
As per GitHub documentation, Percolator divides into two on-chain programs Router and Slab. Router manages collateral, portfolio margin and cross-slab routing. Slab is a matching focused, settlement engine for perps run by liquidity providers. The design aims for parallelism and fault confinement. LPs innovate within their slab, but users can maintain portfolio level margining and atomic fill across slabs.
This approach keeps a slab for each LP completely self-contained and upgradeable, but the Router ensures atomic routing w/ portfolio netting & capability scoped safety. The testing matrix guarantees a single malicious or buggy slab can’t hunt the users who never trade with it, and that the aggregate capital efficiency is on par with a monolithic DEX frequently even better execution quality through selective routing.
